The Brief
Climate Spring, alongside Adam McKay's Yellow Dot Studios and a growing coalition of screen industry organisations, came to us with an urgent ask: help shift the climate narrative on screen from one of doom and paralysis to one of action and possibility. Their campaign – #FlipTheScript – aimed to challenge the dominant portrayal of the climate crisis and inspire the industry to tell new, bolder stories about transition, agency and hope.
The brief was to develop and deliver a standout short film that would act as the campaign’s calling card: something that could cut through, resonate with talent and creatives, and spark conversation across the industry. The film needed to be thought-provoking without being preachy, creatively ambitious while working within tight timelines, and able to attract top-tier talent to amplify its message.
Our Approach
We collaborated closely with writer-director Jack Cooper Stimpson to shape a smart, satirical script that disarms the climate conversation with humour and heart. The result was More Flames – a sharp, industry-facing comedy about an actor questioning the role she's playing in a film that, like so many others, leans into the familiar ‘end of the world’ narrative.
With a cast led by Phoebe Dynevor, Bella Ramsey and Amar Chadha-Patel, we moved fast to package, shoot and deliver a film that not only carried the campaign’s message but felt authentic to the culture of the screen industry.
Sustainability was baked into every stage of production. Shooting at the iconic Twickenham Film Studios, we used a virtual production stage to create multiple locations in one studio, drastically cutting down travel and emissions without compromising the visual ambition. We paired that with a lean, single-camera setup, low-impact lighting, minimal kit, and a focus on reusable materials and waste reduction. Catering was plant-based, locations were local, and every decision, from casting to post, was made with environmental impact in mind.
With the help of Climate Spring, we brought the film to life and supported it with a targeted campaign around climate storytelling that connects on a human level. More Flames is proof that filmmaking can be bold, responsible and still deeply entertaining - and that changing the story starts with how we choose to tell it.
